In the previous post we have discussed about How to learn Rational Number and In today's session we are going to discuss about What is Prime Factorization. By term factors we say that the numbers which completely divides the given number. So if we say that 3 and 2 are the factors of 6, it means that the number 6 is divisible by its factors 2 and 3. Now we will learn about what is prime factorization? Finding all the prime factors of the given number is called the prime factorization. The method of finding the prime factors of the given number is called prime factorization. We say that the number 70 can be factorized as follows:
70 = 35 * 2
Further 35 are also written as 7 * 5, so the factors of the number 70 will be as follows:
70 = 2 * 7 * 5 * 1
Now we observe that the factors of the given number are all the prime numbers. So we can say that the prime factors of 70 are 2 * 7 * 5 * 1.
In the same way we take another number say 120, now we have to find the factors of the given number 120 as 60 * 2, again 60 can be written as 30 * 2, similarly we write 30 as 15 * 2 and 15 can be written as 5 * 3. SO we write the number 120 as follows:
120 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 5.
Here we observe that the above shown factors are all prime numbers, so we say that 2, 2, 2, 3 and 5 are the prime factors of the given number 120. (know more about Prime Factorization, here)
